With Kent above the national average for excess weight among adults, and year six children among the most overweight in the South East, Kent County Council is supporting National Obesity Awareness Week (12 to 18 January) by reminding residents of the support services available to help them get active. The percentage of overweight and obese adults in Kent is 64.6% (compared to 63.8% nationally) which equates to 771,476 people aged 16 and above. An Ipetition has been set up entitled ‘Force Tesco to Sell Land Owned in Dartford’. ‘Tesco have finally announced that they will not be building a new store in Dartford more than a decade after they acquired the land, forced local business to close or relocate and left Dartford looking like a ghost town. By signing this petition, you declare that you find the actions of Tesco utterly disgraceful and that you believe they should be forced to sell the land they own in Dartford at auction in a stance against their disgusting actions’.
A2 Bean Interchange, Dartford, Kent: Safety improvement – Lane closures and a 50mph speed limit will be in place on the London-bound carriageway along with a full closure of the London-bound entry slip road at the Bean Interchange overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 12 January for two nights. When the slip road is closed, a clearly signed diversion will be in place via the B255, A296 and the A282.
