Dartford Borough Council is offering free parking after 3pm on market days in the run up to Christmas.  Free parking will be available after 3pm on Thursdays and Saturdays until Saturday 20 December in the following Council-run car parks and on-street Pay & Display spaces:

Car parks: Acacia, Central and Westgate.

On-street parking: Hythe Street, Kent Road, Old Market Street (not Thursdays) and Spital Street.

Roadworks are due to take place on Friday 21 November in Common Lane, Wilmington, 50 metres east of Wilmington Manor Nursing Home.  Stop/Go boards will be in place and advise delays are likely.

KCC Highways advise that to enable repairs to an electric cable, there will be a contraflow on Princes Road between Darenth Road and Lowfield Street from Monday 24 until Friday 28 November between 9.30am and 3.30pm.

Toy Appeal update – The appeal is asking for new toys and books, etc which will be passed on to Choices (previously North Kent Women’s Aid).  North Kent Women’s Aid started in 1996 as Dartford & Gravesham Women’s Aid, mainly with refuge accommodation but over the years, have been delivering support services within the community.   They are now delivering support services to men, women and children throughout Dartford, Gravesham, Sevenoaks, Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge & Malling, Maidstone and Medway.  In order to reflect the diversity of their client group, the range of services they deliver and the communities in which they now work they will shortly be changing their name to ‘Choices’.  More information can be found at their website

School absence fines – this report from reveals that these have risen in Dartford to 264 for the year 2013-14.  The comparable figures for 2012-13 were 170 and 2011-2012 were 100.  Dartford’s figures remain low compared with the rest of Kent.
