Fly tipping in Dartford 2013/14 – According to figures released by DEFRA, there were 1728 (1304 in the previous year) incidents of fly tipping in the Borough of Dartford.  The total incidents estimated clearance costs were £79513 (£63639).  As described on, fly tipping is an increasing problem throughout the Borough, both on Council land and privately owned sites.  This link also provides information on how to report fly tipping.

Fascinating Aida is on at the Orchard Theatre on Monday 3 November.  The Orchard Theatre recently carried out a Question and Answer session with the stars of the show,  Dillie Keane, Adele Anderson and Liza Pulman to find out a bit more about the group and what keeps their audiences coming back for more.

Tickets for ‘A Day in the Life of a Christmas Elf’ go on sale this Saturday 1 November.  This is a production by You Can Fly Theatre, a drama group for children and young people aged 3 to 18 years who love to sing, dance, act, play music and laugh.  The production is set to be held on Saturday 6 December at Heathfields Hall, Heath Lane.

Millwall’s U21 Development Squad face their Crystal Palace counterparts at Princes Park on Monday 3 November at 7pm.   It is the first in a series of games that Neil Harris’ young Lions will play at the home of Dartford FC; tickets available at £5 for adults and £1 for U12s – further information from


Dartford Borough Council

The draft minutes of the Joint Transportation Board which met on 16 September are now available.  Amongst the items covered at this meeting were: Fastrack; Flooding and access to Bob Dunn Way; Pavement Parking (also see our article on this on the day of the meeting); Waiting restrictions in Cranford Road; and Storms/Floods of last winter.

The draft minutes of the Cabinet meeting held on 23 October are now available.  The principal item discussed was the rebuild of Fairfield Pool and Leisure Centre.  One of the resolutions agreed was that ‘the commitment to maintain high specifications be noted and the overall budget for the project be set at £11m, with a further report to the December Committee on the final costs and implications’.

Further evidence (if further evidence is required!!!) that Option A for the Third River Crossing is not an option – at least as far as the Parish Council is concerned

Bus Services – As from Monday 3 November the 474/475 service will be operated by Arriva Thameside by contract with KCC. The Monday to Saturday timetable will not be altered, but there will be a reduction in the Sunday timetable. Further details from
