This weekend’s Featured Event is at St Michaels & All Angels Church in Wilmington who will be hosting the 18th Model Railway Exhibition on both Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday, in addition to the regular Market and Parkrun in the town centre, there is a Table Top Sale in Phoenix Place organised by Dartford Big Local. Sellers can set up from 8am and the sale runs from 9am until noon.
Events at Bluewater include The Baby & Toddler Show at Glow. This event on Saturday and Sunday brings together under one roof everything that you need to give your baby the best start. Also at Waterstones at 1pm, you have the chance to meet Michael Grant, the author of the global best-selling Gone series who will be signing copies of his new book Messenger of Fear. In the evening, Showcase Cinema are showing, via satellite, The Metropolitan Opera’s performance of Macbeth.
For sport watchers, Dartford FC take on Macclesfield Town at Princes Park and Dartford Valley Rugby Club hold their VIP day, which weather permitting, will include a bouncy castle for the kids. The 1st XV face Brockleians in a Kent League match.
At the Orchard Theatre, the final two performances (2pm and 7.30pm) of The Woman In Black take place. Described by The Daily Telegraph as the ‘most brilliantly effective spine-chiller you will ever encounter‘.
There are several options to see live music on Saturday evening. At the Mick Jagger Centre, Los Endos – Ultimate Genesis capture the excitement of a live Genesis gig from the Seventies, with nearly 3 hours of scintillating musicianship and a state of the art light show. Featuring music from their early heyday, Los Endos have focussed on music from all the hit albums of the 70’s and 80’s plus a few surprises.
At The Hufflers Arms, Italian reggae star, Ali Roots will play a close-up gig, following her sellout show at Hootananny, Brixton; whilst at The George and Dragon, Swanscombe, Total Recall will be performing rock and pop covers. At Bar Mondo, Silas, a metal band will perform as ‘Got Beerd’, playing a few covers as well as their own material, stripped down in acoustic format.
On Sunday, although Dartford FC have not yet appeared in the competition, FA Cup football can be seen at Princes Park as tenants, Greenwich Borough take on Redhill at 1pm.
In the evening, there are limited tickets remaining to see 10cc at the Orchard Theatre. Celebrating over 40 years of being in the business, they will perform their greatest hits including Rubber Bullets, I’m Not In Love, Dreadlock Holiday, Donna, Art For Art’s Sake and The Wall Street Shuffle.
