The full Council of Kent County Council met yesterday and the whole meeting was webcast and can be viewed again at kent.public-i.tv. The meeting opened with Councillor Jeremy Kite handing in a petition from 991 residents of Dartford petitioning against the proposed changes to Dartford Central Library.

The meeting then received several tributes to John Muckle, particularly from Councillors Maddison and Kite.

There was also a debate on a motion from UKIP members for an immediate review of the street light switch off programme.  This motion was defeated by 43 votes to 31.  The voting system shown on the webcast does not make clear how each individual member voted so we don’t specifically know whether the Councillors representing areas of Dartford supported or opposed this motion.  KCC subsequently issued a statement reaffirming the safe street lighting commitment.
